Makeachessbot.com is a website where you build a custom chess bot by giving rewards and penalties to individual legal moves in a chess position, like capturing a piece or penalizing moves that hang your own pieces. But it's not just those—you can generate your own rules, like "bonus for moving a piece from a light square to a dark square" or "bonus for every empty square your bishops see in total," and you can even customize your bot with voicelines, avatars, and animations!

How to make your bot:
Make your rules
Start from scratch, and make the craziest bot you can, or start with the basic 6 or 12 rules that were handcrafted to make your bot play quite well even without any extra rules. After those basic ones, you can add your own rules. But if you want something weird? Just type it, and AI will turn it into chess. Bonus for moving your king works just fine.
Set your weights
Give each rule that you wrote a weight. Bigger weights matter more, making the bot more likely to consider that rule when choosing. Negative numbers tell the bot to avoid that move. Zero turns the rule off.
Customize your bot
Make your bot your own. First, generate an avatar from a prompt or upload your own, then write voicelines that fire on specific moments ("when I take the queen"), and pick from cinematic animations such as spotlights, screenshake, slow-motion zooms, and more, that play on your bot's biggest moves.
Play your bot
Watch it play and see exactly which rule pushed it to each move. Tweak the numbers until it plays the way you wanted. Pit your bots against other bots you made, share your bot with friends and see who can beat it, or put your bot to the test against other people's bots in online ranked games.

You also can get pawns by completing achievements. Use pawns to let your bot have more rules than 25, more voicelines than 5, and more animations than 4; use them to lengthen your bot's bio, rename your bot, regenerate its AI avatar, or unlock more animations to fire on your moves, such as lightning, zoom in, or turning the entire screen black-and-white.
